My Dear Folks,
I received your letters of the 1st and 3rd of January and they found me in the best of health and hope you folks are the same. They got the story going now that we are on the way home soon and it looks so. All we do now is drill so much a day. I sent you a pillow box the other day hope you get it and like it. It cost me $6.00

I will try to get you some of those shells.I had one but when I went to the hospital I lost it. I could get a lot of things but a fellow thinks at the battle field if I get all this stuff, I won't come out of it and if I come out of it, I will be enough of a souvenir to take home. But the ones that went to Germany got lots of them. They left lots of helmets on the battle field like the ones "kld" sent so it would blow up when you picked it up. So you had to watch out. what you did. Army Division is in Germany, I got a letter from Ruth
